Health Check up of 100 % school student in Primary and Upper Primary schools Planned, endeavour to achieve biggest hand washing campaign in September

Encouraged by Burdwan Zilla Parishad's zeal to get record coverage of hand washing in a district on the same day, we may plan following in the months of August to September 2010 :-
  • All Children in the age group of 3 months to 6 years to be weighed, growth chart prepared and malnourished children to be tracked through the process. Weighment at door step to cover 100 % children. Identified Grade III & IV will be covered under Special Nutrition of nutrimix kind so as to bring them under Grade normal or Grade I. Special mothers' meetings at each ICDS centres on fixed day and time in each month. Complete health check up of severely malnourished children i.e. Grade III & IV and there after corrective medical treatment or supplementary nutrition as the Case may be.
  • All students from age 6 years to 14 years i.e. class I to VIII to be covered under heath check up in three stage screening process. Stage one at intuition level with the help of trained teacher in each class, followed by screening by technical persons like ANM, GNM, OA etc at PHC/ GP HQ Sub centre level and finally medical treatment of second stage screened students for complete cure and aid and appliances. Screening may be cover eye sight problems, skin disease and dental problems. Medical Officers from outside the district and local will be associated on payment, mobility support basis.
  • Hand washing campaign at all institutions throughout the district on a single day on 15th September. 100 % ODF status and NGP.
  • All GP HQ Sub centre walls to bear name of doctor, day and time of mobile health check up.
  • All stakeholders to be associated.

Can one imagine, these three interventions may reach to 15 lakhs children directly and large number of population in the district. Let's come together to achieve the ambitious target.
