DVC to release irrigation water till 6th November 2012 at 18000 acres feet per day

This is regarding demand of farmers for DVC water in Monteswar, memari and Raina. We have directed dvc to continue release of water till 6th November 2012, originally scheduled from 25th to 31st Oct. Irrigation department has been advised to increase present release from 16000 acre feet per day to 18000 acre feet per day or uninterrupted sufficient water so that tail end farmers can get adequate water.

Problems of Raina resolved and hopefully in other tail end areas will also get water in a day or two. I spoke to Chief Engineer DVC and Irrigation Chief engineers and thereafter these arrangements made. Dvc will release continuous water.

Incorrect media reports regarding old age pension in Jamalpur

This refers to media reports regarding discontinuation of IGNOAPS pension to one minority beneficiary of Jamalpur. The reports have factual inaccuracies, assumptions based on unverified claims and incomplete news omitting any response of appropriate authority. Facts are :-
1. Her pension discontinued based on annual field verification reports from the GP as GP wanted to recommend another lady with the same BPL ID, who was underage. She was nowhere reported dead in any Govt reports as claimed.
2 When the matter was brought to the notice of the administration on 9th October 2012, local BDO was asked by me to restore her pension after proper field verification. PDO conducted field enquiries and recommended her pension. Rs 2400 were released to her on 17th October 2012 for the period from July 2011 to December 2011. Arrears @ Rs 400 pm from Jan to Sep 2012 sanctioned and to be released after Puja Holidays.
3. 86000 persons get IGNOAPS in Burdwan district @ Rs 400 pm. More than 680 beggars included in this year by district administration through special drive.
