MGNREGA Burdwan updates as on 31st December 2012

As per monthly progress report till 31st December 2012, Burdwan district spent Rs 375 crores for which UCs are received. We released Rs 390 crores to GPs/ PIAs out of which full amount except salary funds of few crores has been utilised. There is no balance fund at PIA level and district accounts to start new works.
  • Annual labour budget of Burdwan for 2012-13 is Rs 515 crores against which Rs 400 crores has been released so far. Last allotment was received in October 2012 just before Pujas to clear pending wage bills, which is fully exhausted.
  • Thereafter, State released only Rs 10 Crores last week, which is being paid against pending bills.
  • District needs Rs 100 crores now to start new works in full swing and provide employments in last three months of the financial year.
  • In previous year, Burdwan could spend only Rs 201 crores till December creating employment generation of 94 lakhs.
  • This year district created 203 lakhs man days till December 2012 against annual labour budget of 225 lakhs man days, involving 6 lakhs families. This is the National record and Burdwan stands at TOP in the country is disbursing Rs 290 crores wages under MGNREGA.
  • Annual budget is indicative, so Burdwan may achieve 300 lakhs man days by March 2013, provided funds are made available immediately.
  • Online MIS of district is 90 percent of available funds against requirement of 60 percent to release the funds. There is no pending queries and audit matters and district is eligible to get its entitlement. Hope the funds are released early to meet the demand of employment in rural areas.
