We are satisfied with the way this district has controlled the disease so fast.” When asked about the precautionary measures, Dr Oberoy said: “Awareness is what we should emphasise on. It is a continuous process and we should not stop till each and everyone knows what is Bird Flu and what should be done if the disease breaks out.”The sale of chicken has resumed on the Krishnagar PWD road, which falls within a five-km radius of the infected area, despite the ban being lifted only in areas that did not see an outbreak. Mr Amalendu Saha, the deputy director of the ARD department, he said: “Yes, chicken was sold today but it was a case of lack of awareness. The sellers had no idea of the ban on sale of chicken within a five-km radius of an area where Bird Flu was reported.”

Thanks for successful control and containment of Avian Influenza in Nadia
I am thankful to all the officers, volunteers and govt. employees of the district for successful control and containment of bird flu in some blocks and municipalities of the district. 24x7 hard working, painful efforts of all my colleagues shall be ever remembered. We have lots of work to do in next three months so as to avoid further outbreak. I am sure that we'll overcome any crisis and hope to continue the same support and cooperation.
2. Monthly development meeting with BDOs and Sabhapaties shall be held on 13th Feb 2008 at 10.30 am.
3. We need to improve utilisation of funds as discussed in the last month's sub-divisional meetins.
With regards and thanks
